Today is celebrated the World Day for the Ecology

Every November 1st is celebrated the “World Day for the Ecology and the Ecologists”. The celebration of this day pays tribute to the Ecology as a scientific discipline, it also values the work of the profesional Ecologists. It also seeks to make people aware of the importance of maintaining a harmonious relationship with the environment in which they live, ensuring its care and preservation.

What does Ecology mean?

The term ökologie was coined in 1869 by the Prussian German naturalist and philosopher Ernst Haeckel, from the Greek words oikos (house, dwelling, home) and logos (study or treatise), hence ecology means: the study of the home.

Why is it so important?

The ecology gained importance throughout the years,specially with the attention calls over climate change, the disappearance of species, the loss of tropical forests, water, soil and air pollution, among other factors.

At this rate of environmental destruction, it is estimated that by 2050 more than 50% of natural ecosystems could be lost. Considering these facts, wey want to invite you to rethink our lifestyles and habits that are dangerous for the environment.
